Our children are special gifts to us. They are our most treasured possessions and we want to make sure they are safe all the time. The church should be a safe environment for your children and grandchildren to come and learn more about Jesus Christ.
At our church, we have a policy called “Safe Sanctuary.” Safe Sanctuary is a policy that was put in place by our Board of Christian Education, designed to protect our children and our adult volunteers. Here are some highlights of that policy…
• All staff and volunteers must be active members of the congregation for at least 6 full months before they can volunteer.
• All adults will have a background check done yearly.
• Two unrelated adults will be present at all times during any church sponsored program, event or ministry involving children. Exception to this rule is KidzWorship.
• The Children’s Minister will check on the nursery and KidzWorship program at least once time each Sunday to make sure the guidelines are being followed and everyone is safe.
• Parents must complete an emergency contact form before leaving their Children at the church.
• Any volunteer for KidzWorship or the youth group will be at least five years older than the youth they supervise. No one under the age of 18 will be allowed to supervise a youth program without two legal adults present.
• Adults are not allowed to drive youth home from the church.
These are some of the highlights of the Safe Sanctuary policy. If you would like a copy, please let me know and I will get you a copy. Our goal is to make sure all children are safe when they are participating in church events.
